May / June 2004

Start of a setup for a workshop ‘Design your own
t-shirt,which I would like to provide for company-parties.
Samples of these t-shirts will be put on the website and I will send mailings to companies and organising-bureaus.

March / April 2004

The search for the right materials finally paid off; I found a very strong fabric made of pvc which, at last, gave my designs the look I had in mind…
I am producing a collection I will put on the website under a new name: ‘DØØQ’. (this name is derived from a nickname I was given by an american friend).
I’m exploring possibilities to transfer the new logo onto the new materials.
These bags will not just be sold on my own website but also through sites like E-Bay and Dutch equivalents.

At the end of April I am interviewed by a journalist for an article named ‘the Ambition’ which appears weekly in the Saturday-edition of the Brabants Dagblad; the interview will be published in the second half of May.

January / February 2004

I continue perfecting my designs and start looking for the perfect materials for them.
I decide to take up teaching dressmaking and start advertising in several magazines and on the internet.

December 2003

Back to work in my own studio; my own bag falls apart and I thought: ‘why don’t make a new one myself?’
My first design is for a large LP-bag. I start experimenting with different materials. I am invited to the première of ‘Tantalus’ at the end of December; this marathon-production gets a great deal of pubicity and it’s great to see the costumes I made, being worn in this wonderful, eleven-hour play…

October / November 2003

After a busy summer, which was, for the most part, spent on preparing for the shows, I came in contact with Annelies de Ridder; a costume-designer who was very busy working on a large production called ‘Tantalus’ for which over a hundred costumes were needed.
I worked with her during October and November and this collaboration turned out to be a very pleasant one and
a great opportunity for me to explore a different side of my profession…

A very busy month with lots of rehearsals and preparations for the shows.
An interview I had with a journalist of a local newspaper is published just before the festival.
As a result of this (and the publicity during the shows) the site, which is first launched on the eve of the festival, gets plenty of visits (> 6000 hits during the first ten days)…!!
The last weekend of the month (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) my shows can be seen during the festival
‘DB Surround’; months of hard work are paying off; my models do a perfect job and the dress-rehearsal only takes half an hour..!

The response to the shows is incredibly good…!!
